Adoption, Nail Trims, Education & FUN!
Come join our next Outreach to see what fun is all about. The first set of photos below shows adoptable rabbits that we expect to bring to our next Outreach (or who were at our most recent Outreach). Remaining sets of photos show the fun we've had at past Outreaches as well as our favorite grooming tools.

Matilda & Elliot (no longer available - adopted at Outreach!)
 |
Matilda is a lovely 2 yr old Lionhead lass, spayed 3/5/12. She LOVES to sit in a cozy little nook such as a shelf with a towel or blanket on it. If you leave a carrier or other type of box out for her, she often will sit in it.
In her previous home, she lived with a family that did not have enough time to give her the attention she deserves. Because her beautiful coat needs constant grooming, a daily brushing is suggested or at least a check to make sure nothing is stuck in her fur. An occasional haircut to reveal her beautiful eyes is also nice. If you don't have experience with rabbit grooming, Matilda's foster human is happy to show you how to properly care for her coat and nails.
Matilda is easy to pet and hold, though sometimes a little skittish about being picked up (like most rabbits). Matilda would love to have a rabbit friend, but she prefers a calm gentleman who can converse in nose wiggle and is not forever thumping at every little noise. Matilda would like to meet one or two humans who can love her and offer many years of cilantro and fun times.
Elliot joins Matilda!
Matilda was a single Lionhead lady happily being adored by her caregiver until one day she met a little Lop named Elliot, whom she took quite a fancy to in mere moments. However, it seemed that this love could not be a reality, for the single male rabbit already had a meeting with another lady, and after all, he'd only just met Matilda and nothing was tying him down.
The fellow seemed to hit it off with the other lady and went home with her, hoping to have a "happily ever after" ending to his dating scene. Unfortunately the other lady was different when he moved in. She wasn't in love with him after all and wanted a divorce! As much as her human was in love with him, it was best that he find a different home. Upon returning to his foster home, he was surprised to see Matilda still hanging out. He cautiously greeted her to see if she wanted to go on a date. "Date schmate!" Matilda cried. "Let's get married and live happily ever after!" The story is almost complete: the new inseparable duo now only seek a great new home. :)

Horace Koolhaas
 |
Horace Koolhaas - Meet the cutest Netherland Dwarf fellow this side of the Hague. With his beautiful Black Silver Marten coloring, Horace is simply dashing and always prepared for a black tie affair. However, he doesn't mind just lounging about at home, either.
You needn't bring out the fine China for his dinner; he'll do just fine with some earthenware bowls for his food and water. Horace (or Horatio, if you are in a Shakespearean mood) is named for both the jazz musician Horace Silver (born Horace Ward Martin Tavares Silva) and the famous Dutch architect/architectural theorist Rem Koolhaas.
We don't know much about Horace's background, but estimate he is about 7-12 months old (based on the look of his teeth). He is slightly overweight; however, a good diet of mostly timothy hay, some fresh rabbit safe veggies, and a nice exercise regimen, should help him lose those pesky ounces soon and keep him fit. (Perhaps an architecture aficionado would like to design a fun tunnel and box castle/high rise/cottage for Horace to explore when he's not running about the house.)
Horace would love a spayed lady friend eventually, but must approve of her before going to her home (and vice versa, mais oui!). So far, he has enjoyed two episodes of "Mad Men" and meeting other rabbits in his foster home, and looks forward to checking out "Game of Thrones" to see what all the hoopla is about. In general he doesn't watch much TV, but makes occasional exceptions.
We're sure Horace will fit nicely into a rabbit savvy home, preferably one without young children since Horace tends to be on the feisty side, is small like all Netherland Dwarfs, and appreciates a relaxed atmosphere.

Outreach (4/15/12)
Our first Outreach at Tigard Petco on 4/15/12 was a great success. We had so many wonderful visitors of the human and lagomorph persuasion!
People learned about rabbits. Rabbits learned about people. Rabbits enjoyed a spa day. A few vet visits were advised. The store gave us a gracious welcome. Juliet was looking for a forever home (and may have found one)! Generous donations were received. What more could we ask for?
Come join us at our next Tigard Petco Outreach and see what all the fun is about.

Photography courtesy of Dawn I-C. We received permission from the little girl's Mom to share these photos on our website. These two ladies were so eager to learn how to take the best care of their absolutely adorable young lop-eared bunny! We look forward to seeing them at future Outreaches.
