Obi

We had a very busy Outreach on 7/9/11. As usual, many of our visitors were repeat customers and past adopters, several returning with slimmer, healthier, easier to handle bunnies. Of course, all the rabbits were adorable, coming in all colors, shapes, sizes, and fur styles.

Our volunteers were just awesome, educating many visitors and performing pawdicures/grooming for 26 rabbits. We couldn't have done this Outreach without our intrepid gang of helpers! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Our human and furry volunteers were:

  • Connie K (greeter/co-lead)
  • Ingrid D (greeter/co-lead/foster Mom to Obi)
  • Audra B (groomer/pawdicurist)
  • Elizabeth O (groomer/pawdicurist)
  • Dawn I-C (groomer/pawdicurist)
  • Cherrie C (groomer/pawdicurist trainee, now fully qualified)
  • Obi (Ingrid's foster, photo above)

Statistics (click here for more details):

  • Groomed and nail trimmed: 26 rabbits (25 + 1 foster bunny)
  • $229.25 donated
  • $2 paid for bumper stickers
  • Many better-educated rabbit caretakers, interested visitors, and future adopters.

Highlights of the Day

The pawdicurists discovered a broken tooth, urine scald, fleas, very furry rabbits in need of grooming, and a bunny who needed neuter. Ingrid distributed her cards to several people who were interested in her bunny Obi. Let's hope for an adoption for this big loveable boy very soon!

One of our repeat visitors shared the coolest cover that she had made for her rabbit carrier. We hope her company will develop some bunny-themed items someday (but even the non-bunny themed items will be quite popular with rabbits; see http://critterbeds.com/.)

Today we tried having just one adoptable rabbit pen plus two separate pens for the pawdicurists, an arrangement that seemed to work well for the volunteers and reduced noise and congestion in the store. Many of our customers shared their rabbits with visitors who wanted to pet them, so having one less adoptable rabbit and pen seemed to be OK. Of course, we directed anyone interested in adoptions to our website where they could find adoptable rabbits galore.

*** VOLUNTEER WITH US! WE NEED YOU! ***

Sign Up Here! Our 8/13/11 Outreach has only two volunteers signed up at the moment. We need AT LEAST 2 volunteers to greet and co-lead, 4 to perform full grooming/pawdicures, and a few short-shift volunteers to provide some grooming help and then hand bunnies over to pawdicurists for finishing touches. We also need a single rabbit or a bonded pair to be our guest bunny. To volunteer, please click this link or the big bunny button at left. We need you!

Thanks for reading!
